Flight RMS Roles and Navigation Update

To further enhance the security and management of Flight RMS, we are introducing a new user role hierarchy that will be implemented for both new and existing customers. These roles are designed to provide more granular access control, ensuring users have the appropriate level of permission required for their responsibilities while helping to protect critical system settings and devices.

View-Only User

As the name suggests, this role provides read-only access within Flight RMS. Users assigned this role can:

  • View modem status and connectivity information

  • Access existing controller remote access links

  • Monitor devices and review information

Users with this role cannot:

  • Modify modem names, tags, or location information

  • Generate or manage remote access links

  • Make any configuration changes to devices or accounts

This role is intended for personnel who require visibility into system status but do not need to make operational changes.

Technician

The Technician role provides the permissions necessary for day-to-day device management and remote controller access. Users assigned this role can:

  • View and manage modems within their company

  • Edit modem names, tags, and location information

  • Create, manage, and generate new remote access links to controllers

The Technician role will replace the current End Client role assigned to users within single-level companies and will be the default role for all new users going forward.

Admin

The Admin role is designed primarily for organizations that utilize the parent/subsidiary company structure within Flight RMS. In addition to all Technician permissions, Admin users can:

  • Manage users within their company

  • View and remove users in their company

  • Manage device assignments across company structures

  • Move modems between subsidiary companies and the parent company

This role provides the highest level of access within a customer organization and should be assigned only to personnel responsible for user and device management.

Navigation and Menu Updates

As part of our ongoing efforts to improve the Flight RMS user experience, we have streamlined the platform navigation to better align with the features most commonly used by customers. These updates help create a cleaner, more focused interface, making it easier for users to access the tools and information relevant to their day-to-day operations.

Management Section

The Management menu has been simplified to focus on the core functionality used within Flight RMS. As a result, the following menu items will no longer be displayed to customer users:

  • Wi-Fi and Hotspots

  • Task Manager

  • Reports

  • Alerts and Automations

This change helps reduce navigation complexity while ensuring users can quickly access the features most relevant to modem monitoring and remote access management.

Administration Section

Access to Administration features will now be aligned with user roles to provide a more streamlined and role-appropriate experience.

View-Only Users and Technicians will have access to:

  • Tags

Admin Users will have access to:

  • Companies

  • Users

  • Tags

This allows Admin users to manage organizational settings, user accounts, and company structures while keeping the experience focused for operational users.

The following Administration categories are not customer-facing and will no longer be displayed to any customer user role:

  • Resources

  • Files

These updates are intended to simplify navigation, improve usability, and ensure each user is presented with the tools and settings most relevant to their responsibilities within Flight RMS.
