Flight Modem Installation Checklist

Follow these steps to perform a successful Flight Modem installation. Modems arrive preconfigured (no field programming required). GOAL: Get cellular connectivity + controller remote access in minutes

Modem Install Checklist

  1. ☐ Mount modem securely, accessible lid/QR

  2. ☐ Screw on antenna (hand-tight)

  3. ☐ Plug in modem (power on)

  4. ☐ Ethernet cable: modem LAN → controller Ethernet

  5. ☐ Controller Ethernet settings:

    • ☐ Gateway Connection: Ethernet

    • ☐ Controller IP: 192.168.50.5

    • ☐ Gateway IP: 192.168.50.1

    • ☐ DNS: 8.8.8.8

    • ☐ Netmask: 255.255.255.0

    • ☐ DHCP: Disabled

    • ☐ Webserver: HTTP

      Note: Controller IP for a second controller is 192.168.50.6

  6. ☐ Verify router LEDs: Power + Cellular/WAN + LAN link/activity

    1. See APPENDIX for LED meanings

  7. ☐ Scan QR code inside lid to REGISTER modem

  8. ☐ Validate in RMS (cellular + controller connected)

    • If no RMS access: ☐ Call APS Support to validate

  9. ☐ Generate remote access link (if controller supports webserver)

    • If no RMS access: ☐ Call APS Support to generate and validate connection

  10. ☐ If controller lacks webserver: use OEM portal access

Power LED

The power LED is located on the bottom left corner of the front panel, just under the power connector:

Ethernet Port LEDs

The Ethernet port LEDs are located on the router's front panel, under each respective Ethernet port:

They represent activity happening on the router's Ethernet ports:

Connection Status LEDs

The connection status LEDs are located on the left side of the front panel, between the power connector and the signal strength indication LEDs:

The LED displays the router's current connection state and network type among a few other things:

Signal strength LEDs

The signal strength LEDs are located in the center of the front panel, to the right of the connection status LEDs:

Each lit up LED represents a different value of the router's current signal strength in RSSI:
