How to Configure a Walchem Controller

These instructions detail how to configure the ethernet and wireless network settings for Walchem controllers.

Ethernet Connection

  1. From the Home screen of the controller, click the Config tab.

  2. In the configuration menu, select the Ethernet Settings.

  3. In the Ethernet Settings, set the following parameters to these values:

    Gateway Connection: Ethernet

    Controller IP: 192.168.50.5

    Gateway IP: 192.168.50.1

    DNS Server: 8.8.8.8

    Netmask: 255.255.255.0

    DHCP: Disabled

    Webserver: HTTP

Note: A second connected controller would have Controller IP of 192.168.50.6

  4. Once these parameters have been changed, reboot the modem.

If the Ethernet settings are set correctly and you still cannot access the controller through the modem, a firmware upgrade may be required.

Wi-Fi Connection

Note: Wi-Fi is only available on the W900 and Intuition-9 models of Walchem Controllers. The Wi-Fi add-on card is also required for functionality and is sold separately from the controller.

  1. From the Home screen of the controller, click the Config tab.

  2. In the configuration menu, select the Wireless Settings.

  3. In the Wi-Fi Settings, set the following parameters to these values:

    Wi-Fi Mode: Infrastructure

    SSID: RUT241_6A5F

    Key: h3MFp6k0

    Gateway Connection: Wi-Fi

    *Infrastructure IP: 192.168.50.10

    Gateway IP: 192.168.50.1

    DNS Server: 8.8.8.8

    Netmask:255.255.255.0

    DHCP: Disabled

    Webserver: HTTP

    * We do not want to use the same IP range for Wi-Fi connections as we do for Ethernet connection. You need to ensure that the .10 connection is properly configured on the modem as well. Typical wi-Fi range is from 192.168.50.10 to 192.168.50.13

  4. Once these parameters have been changed, reboot the controller. After rebooting, it can take up to 5 minutes for the controller to connect with the modem. The connection status on be monitored in the Wi-Fi Details menu of the Config Tab.

Wi-Fi on the Flight modem is disabled by default. Please call Customer Success and they will remotely enable it.

User Accounts

Walchem controllers support multiple user accounts on a single controller, with each user assigned specific permission levels (such as View Only, Technician, etc.).

If end‑customer access is required, the recommended best practice is to configure a unique user account for each individual. This allows you to control permissions appropriately and also provides visibility into when the end customer logs into the controller.

Fluent Update Periods & Modem Reboots

There are two key values to set for Fluent updates:

  • Fluent Update Period [mins]

  • Fluent Alarm Delay [mins]

If you set the Fluent Update Period to any value less than 5 minutes, it is suggested that you set the Fluent Alarm Delay Time to 15 minutes. This setting will suppress unwanted Fluent Data Comm error messages from occurring when a modem reboots.
