Modem Quick Tips for ChemTreat Reps

A document for ChemTreat reps to have accessible for troubleshooting Modem and Controller issues. Working through this short list of items can often result in fixing the issue directly or help pinpoint where the issue may be occurring.

Controller Troubleshooting

  1. Password Issues: Password for Controllers - Access or Changing

  2. Can’t Access Controller Remotely:

    1. Ensure SN / IP Address pair matches what’s in Ct Vista+. Contact CT Vista+ support for assistance.

      1. Phone: (267) 237-1169 [Monday – Friday 9 am – 6 pm ET]

  3. Locally Troubleshooting

    1. Check Power / Cycle Power on CONTROLLER

    2. Verify Ethernet Settings on Controller (Webserver= HTTP, DHCP=Disabled)

    3. Check Ethernet card inside Controller is “blinking”

    4. Ensure Fluent is enabled

    5. Try another Ethernet Cable in same port

      1. Then try ethernet connection directly on Router port (Do not use WAN port).

    6. Try connecting laptop to Router port directly (192.168.50.1)

      1. If laptop cannot connect to router, Router is bad, and modem needs replaced.

Modem Troubleshooting

  1. Locally Troubleshooting

    1. Check Power and/or Power Cycle the MODEM

    2. Check LEDs on internal Router

      1. Status

      2. Wi-Fi

      3. Cellular

  2. Ensure modem setting are:

  3. If you received modem after September 1, 2025, modems have 8 ports defined:

    1. 195.168.50.5,6,7,8 = Ethernet connections

    2. 192.168.50.9,10,11,12 = for Wi-Fi connections

  4. If modem received modem prior to September 1, 2205, modems need to have additional ports defined for Wi-Fi connections.

    1. Use 192.168.50.9,10,11,12 = for Wi-Fi connections

    2. Can contact APS OR Equipment Engineering Group to have modem config updated.

Wi-Fi Connection Issue

  1. Ensure modem setting are:

  2. If you received modem after September 1, 2025, modems have 8 ports defined:

    1. 195.168.50.5,6,7,8 = Ethernet connections

    2. 192.168.50.9,10,11,12 = for Wi-Fi connections

  3. If modem received modem prior to September 1, 2205, modems need to have additional ports defined for Wi-Fi connections.

    1. Use 192.168.50.9,10,11,12 = for Wi-Fi connections

    2. Can contact APS OR Equipment Engineering Group to have modem config updated.

Multiple Modems

  1. If you have multiple modems in the same area reach out to APS Modems Support for configuration. Unique SSIDs need to be established to avoid conflicts in the local area.

    1. Suggestion: Label SSID associated with local area of the plant to help identify coverage area. Make sure SSIDs match on both controller and Modem.

    2. Suggestion: Use the same passcodes for all SSIDs associated with vendor.

    3. Backup for support: Equipment Engineering Group
